Title

Death Is Real

Scripture
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
(Psalm 23:4)
Devotional
Death is real. Unless the Lord returns, we will all face it. As believers we need not have a phobia about death. It is an enemy, but one that will be defeated. "The last enemy that will be destroyed is death."[1] We need not wonder what it will be like to die. God will grant us that grace when it is needed, not before. When the valley of the shadow of death visits our realms, let us face it honestly. Grieve, weep and mourn. Jesus did. The shortest verse in the Bible was with relationship to death. "Jesus wept,"[2] at the grave of His friend Lazarus. When a loved one dies, talk to your children about it. Whenever sharing condolences, talk about the one who has died. Do not act as if nothing happened. Be prepared, yet not overly prepared. Keep your house in order. Do not fear, "For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."
