Title

Snared By Our Words

Scripture
The king was exceedingly sorry; yet, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he did not want to refuse her.
(Mark 6:26)
Devotional
The rash hasty words of our mouths can and will eventually betray us. Foolish boasting and lustful desires went hand-in-hand for King Herod. We know the story. The daughter of Herodias, Herod's illegitimate wife, danced promiscuously before him and his friends. He then promised her anything she desired, and by her mother's direction asked for the head of John the Baptist. To save face, he granted her request. Unrestrained thoughts lead to foolish words, which in turn lead to regretful actions. Herod impulsively gave his word, and his word came back to haunt him. There are almost too many to mention. Sin escalates, our words matter and pride will cause one to act foolishly. Do not be snared by the words of your mouth. Count your words, for you can be sure that your words will count. Clean your thoughts and your mind will be reflected by what you say.
