Title

Lust Is Deceptive

Scripture
The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, but the unfaithful will be caught by their lust.
(Proverbs 11:6)
Devotional

Lust is very deceiving. It often hides itself behind a façade of inordinate love. Its emotions are strong and real, yet it can never be satisfied.

I do not think that there is a more deadly sin than lust. It will draw and entice with beauty and flatter with partial truths. Lust has the ability to justify itself. It is right in its own eyes. I have seen it malign God’s Word and ignore His Spirit. Lust often foolishly says, “I know this isn’t right, but this cannot be wrong because I’m so happy.” Lust destroys businesses, ministries, marriages and families.

Therefore, when it raises its deceptive head, kill it. Run from it. If it is toward another person, flee like Joseph fled from Potiphar’s wife. If it is toward material possessions, get wise counsel and count the cost. If it is for power not belonging to you, serve like Jesus served.  This is the righteousness of the upright and it will deliver you.
