Title

It Is Good To Be Happy

Scripture
Rescue me and deliver me ...that our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as pillars...that our barns may be full...that our sheep may bring forth . . . ten thousands . . . that our oxen may be well laden; that there be no breaking in or going out; that there be no outcry in our streets.
(Psalm 144:11-14)
Devotional
The psalmist goes on to say, “Happy are the people who are in such a state; happy are the people whose God is the Lord!”(1) The psalmist had no doubt that God wishes to bless His children. He was obviously being suppressed. There was no peace in his city and he feared for the well being of his children. Instead of accepting it, he called on the Lord his God to rescue and deliver him from his plight. Happiness is never promised in the Bible, but happiness is a condition that is available. Yes, we are to learn to have joy and contentment in every situation. However, happiness is not a bad thing. It is more than okay to be happy. It is good to be blessed with prosperity. Joy comes from within. Happiness comes from the situation in which we find ourselves. Joy is by far the greater of the two; nevertheless, happiness is a good thing and is a blessing of the Lord.

(1) Psalm 144:15
