Title

With The Goods Comes The Responsibility

Scripture
Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good?
(Psalm 34:12)
Devotional
I don't know about you, but I desire to be that man. What can be better than having a desire for life and seeing many good days? In this realm the answer is "nothing". The Lord is asking, "Who wants an abundant life, raise your hand?" If you don't raise your hand you are either a fool or dead.

Jesus taught us clearly when He said, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."[1] This might sound overly simplified, but could it be that the reason we do not have an abundant life is because we do not desire one? With abundance comes responsibility. With great abundance comes great responsibility. Maybe, just maybe, the reason for not having all that God might intend for us to have is because we want the goods, but we want them without the responsibility. It isn't going to happen.
