Title

Politically Correct

Scripture
By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
(Proverbs 11:11)
Devotional
I have the privilege of knowing several council members and mayors in the San Diego area. They differ politically and philosophically, but one thing they all have in common is the desire to improve their communities.

The citizens of any given community elect their leaders. And one thing I have inevitably found is that we get the leadership we deserve. We defend ourselves by saying things like, "I didn't vote for them." Sometimes voting is not enough.

God's people need to be informed and involved. We do not have to necessarily get into the political race ourselves, but we surely can be informed and see that others are informed as well. Invite your political candidates to your church. It's legal and wise. Ask them to come to your home to meet your neighbors. Get to know them. Remember that they are people and the greatest majority of them want to do what is good for your community. I think this is being politically correct.
