Title

Lies Lie

Scripture
The truthful lip shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
(Proverbs 12:19)
Devotional
Here we have yet another of the contrasting proverbs that speaks to the heart of our character. No matter how good the lie or the liar, the truth of the person will eventually be revealed. A lie cannot outlive the truth. Numbers 32:23 instructs so clearly, "And be sure your sin will find you out."[1] The best thing to do with a lie is kill it before it kills you. For you see, lies propagate. They cannot live on their own merit; they must feed off of other lies to survive. A lie, any lie, is a sin and sin will take you further than you want to go, cost you more than you are willing to pay, keep you longer than you desire to stay and affect others more than you can possibly imagine. The truth will last for all of eternity. Lies are short lived; they will either self-destruct or destroy the one breeding them.
