The Meaning of Life

Scripture
Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, and does not know who will gather them.
(Psalm 39:6)

There is a great difference between man's idea of success and God's. There, likewise, is a great difference between success and meaning. Many people succeed at their endeavors but they succeed without meaning. That is, there is no purpose other than the purpose of succeeding. To ask, "What is the meaning of my life?" is a great and needed question. Why are you doing the things that you are doing? What is their purpose? Is it to gather wealth, achieve a goal or dream? We need these things, but they are to be used for a purpose. Wealth, goals and dreams are to be no more than a means to an end. The meaning of life is simple: we are to love life and enjoy the days of our sojourn. Therefore the apostle Peter tells us, "He who would love life and see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit."[1]
