Title

Pride Takes The Credit and The Blame

Scripture
And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.
(Luke 15:13)
Devotional
Many a child has broken the hearts of their parents. And may a parent has blamed themselves for their children's demise. This we do out of ignorant pride. We have no more right to take the blame of our children's choices than we do to take the credit for those choices. My son attended the Christian High School in which I taught. One Easter brake my son got into some trouble, violating the school's rules of conduct. I was devastated. I offered my resignation for not having raised and trained my son better. The principle of the school, a godly man, said these words to me, "Listen Tony, Adam walked with God in paradise and he fell, what makes you think that you can do a better job than God?" I clearly got the message. I dealt with my son lovingly, but firmly without taking the blame for his wrong choices. And my prodigal son came home.
