Title

It Is Time To Grow-Up

Scripture
When you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, "We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do."
(Luke 17:10)
Devotional
We live in an era that more than often rewards whiners and punishes winners. We tax success and award failure. We no longer keep score at many children's sporting events because we do not want anyone to lose. Well, losing is a real part of life. Not everyone will get the trophy. Everyone can attempt to achieve it, but not everyone will win it. We should not reward that which is our duty to do. We are to be thankful for the obedient, but obedience is our reasonable service. People are not to be rewarded for doing right. They are to be punished for doing wrong. Doing right is a duty. We should not reward someone because they do not steal or lie or cheat. We are not supposed to do these things. We are supposed to pay our bills and take care of our families. It is our duty. Naturally we applaud a child for maturing, but we need not applaud the mature for childishness.
