Title

Let Us Humble Ourselves

Scripture
The Lord will destroy the house of the proud, but He will establish the boundary of the widow. ,
(Proverbs 15:25)
Devotional
Pride does truly come before destruction.[7] And that destruction will come from the hand of the Lord. The only thing that will stay that hand of destruction is a repentant heart. If we humble ourselves under the might hand of God, He will exult us in due time.[8] As God humbles the proud, He likewise exults the humble. We are instructed in 1 Timothy 5:2, to "Honor widows who are really widows."[9] To paraphrase, we are to honor those who have been humbled and are truly humble. When we find ourselves exulting ourselves, we will sooner or later find God destroying that which we deem to be our honor. If we humble ourselves we will not have to be humbled. Humility is not self-pity, but a realization of who and what we are. It is not a self-debasing attitude of oneself, but the very attitude of Christ.
