Title

The Wisdom Of The Truth

Scripture
For my mouth will speak truth; Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
(Proverbs 8:7)
Devotional
Here we have yet another character trait of godly wisdom: truth and a hate for lies. Wisdom knows and understands that speaking the truth in love not only edifies its hearers; it seldom requires the need to be qualified. The truth does not need a great storehouse of justifiable information. It is readily available because it is easily accessible and consistent. When you speak the truth, you do not have to remember what you said the last time you had a particular conversation. The truth is dependable. A lie on the other hand is like a cancer; it spreads and deepens. The truth stands alone, while a lie needs reinforcement. The truth is eternal. Lies are short lived. The truth liberates.[1] Lies create bondage.[2] A wickedness of lying is that it is addictive. It is as bad or worse than any narcotic. Its only cure is the truth. And Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life."[3]
