The Bowl of Life

A lazy man buries his hand in the bowl, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

Ecclesiastes says that, "The end of a thing is better than its beginning."[1] Many people start endeavors, but few finish them. Just about anyone can put their hand in the proverbial dish of enterprise, but it takes fortitude and desire to pull out its reward. The problem with the lazy is that he or she is not hungry enough to do either. They are satisfied with so very little. They are fast food junkies of enterprise. As there is little nourishment in fast food, there is little success in leaving your hand in life's endeavor's bowl. They may start with great enthusiasm, but end with idleness, while they blame others for their own laziness. If you find yourself starting many enterprises, but seldom finishing any of them, you may not want to stick your hand in so many bowls. Eat what is on your plate before you bury your hand in another.
