Title

Pray For Leaders

Scripture
The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.
(Proverbs 21:1)
Devotional
It is for this reason that we are to pray for our leaders. The book of Romans clearly tells us that, "There is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God."[1] From the mayor of your town to the president of our country and from our parents to our pastors, their hearts are in the hand of the Lord. Let us remember that God turns their hearts wherever He wishes, not wherever we wish. However, if we have the mind of the Lord in a matter, the ways of leadership can be changed by our intercession on his or her behalf. Instead of attacking and accusing leadership, let us intercede on their behalf. As the apostle Paul instructed Timothy, let us likewise receive the same instructions, "Therefore I exhort… that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all… who are in authority.”[2]
