Try Singing

Scripture
The ransomed of the Lord shall return… with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
(Isaiah 35:10)
Devotional
Do we sing because we are glad and joyful, or are we glad and joyful because we sing? One is a result of what happens to us, while the other is a result of who we are. Good things do and should make us happy. Nevertheless, our joy and gladness must be based on who we know and who we are in the one we know. And the one we know is Christ. Things that happen to us are to have little bearing on our ability to choose sorrow and sighing or joy and gladness. We are not mechanical; we are emotional beings. However our lives are not to be controlled by our emotions; our manner of life is to control our emotions. Praising people are thankful people and thankful people are happy people. Therefore let us come with singing because of the promise of everlasting joy. We then shall obtain gladness and joy and sorrow, and sighing shall flee away.
