Title

God And Sin Has Not Changed

Scripture
Fools mock at sin, but among the upright there is favor.
(Proverbs 14:9)
Devotional
What does it mean to mock at sin? Does it imply that one takes it lightly or flippantly? I think so. We seem to be a generation that sees sin as almost archaic. We often hear righteousness spoken of as if it were something people did in the ark ages. How foolishly ironic to think of righteousness as dark and sin as being enlightened. So we make light of the sins of the world. Satan knows that the first step to accepting sin is to learn to laugh at it. He knows that if he can get us to laugh at promiscuities, lasciviousness or deviant sexual behavior, he can get us to eventually accept it. Mocking at sin may find us favor with the world, but not God. Likewise, upright behavior will cause us to find favor with God, but not so with the world. God and sin have never changed. The God of the Garden of Eden has not changed, and neither has the sin of the garden become less sinful.
