Title

Poor Dealing With The Poor

Scripture
A poor man who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain which leaves no food.
(Proverbs 28:3)
Devotional
A driving rain has no value to crops. If anything it destroys the crops. Those who propagate and boast in their poverty are like a driving rain. They have little value and more than often do much harm. A poor man does not need to be added in his poverty, he needs delivered out of it. We are to care for the poor, but giving them just enough to live is not adding them at all. It is simply keeping them in their poverty. To do so is a cruel way to satisfy the need to feel good about ourselves. Instead of the poor working together to survive in their poverty. It would be much better to work their way out of their poverty. There is nothing sinfully wrong with being poor. Jesus said that we would have the poor with us always.[18] Let us not despise the poor in their poverty; let us work with them to free them from their poverty. And let us do so humbly.
