Title

The Body Has Ears

Scripture
Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me".
(Hebrews 10:3)
Devotional
The phrase "a body You have prepared for Me" is a Hebrew expression meaning "You have dug ears for Me." The writer of Hebrews was clearly referring to Christ and I likewise believe His church. As Christ heard the voice of His Father and only sought to do His will[1] the church is to hear the voice of Christ and only do His will. Christ is God and God is Spirit.[2] Nevertheless He came to this earth bodily, born of a virgin. And for more than three decades He walked the earth, which He had created. When He ascended to heaven, He established another body, His church. We are the body of Christ. We are the ears He has prepared. Just as Christ came listening to His Father, we are to listen to the Word, who is Christ.[3] Therefore, as the scriptures repeatedly instruct, "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."[4]
