Title

Succeed and Rejoice

Scripture
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.
(Proverbs 29:2)
Devotional
Our text could be understood by saying, "when the righteous succeed and prosper, the people rejoice." The righteousness of the believer is not based on his or her own righteousness, but in the righteousness of Christ. We are told in 2 Corinthians 5:21, "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."[1] The first Psalm likewise tells us that whatever this man does shall prosper.[2] Therefore it ought to be the goal of every believer to prosper in his or her calling. To what has God called you? What goals and dreams has He placed in your heart? Pursue them faithfully. Pray for direction, guidance and seek godly counsel. The righteous must get out of their comfort zone and go where only faith can take them. There are more than enough wicked rulers. Dare to be one of God's righteous leaders.
