Title

Watch Out for Trippers

Scripture
Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from violent men, who have purposed to make my steps stumble.
(Psalm 140:4)
Devotional
I have both seen and found that the greater responsibility one has in life and especially God's kingdom the more vulnerable one is to opposition. I am sure that the psalmist did not suffer from paranoia. He simply realized that with leadership comes conflict and the conflict appears and often is conspiratorial. Now I am sounding paranoid. Nevertheless, there is a conspiracy and it is demonic. If we think that the enemy of the brethren will not do all that he can to thwart the work of God, we do not know the enemy. His ways are not mystical or spooky. He uses people to do his dastardly deeds. And they are used unknowingly. Remember, he is the master deceiver. Therefore when stumbling blocks to righteousness come realize from where they are coming. Therefore we need the Word of God to keep us from stumbling. Jesus said, "These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble."[8]
