Title

You Are What You Know

Scripture
Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life.
(Proverbs 4:13)
Devotional
We need to understand that we cannot have instruction without discipline. They must go hand-in-hand to be of value. Instruction is simply imparted knowledge. For instruction to have value, it must be retained. It must be learned, adopted, and firmly possessed. Unapplied instruction will quickly dissolve. Like all learned skills, it must be regularly practiced. If not it will at best lapse, and most likely vanish. There is no such thing as casual learning. The only things we learn casually are bad habits. A lazy man effortlessly learns to be slothful. A diligent man learns by his diligence. From where do you receive your instruction? What’s the curriculum? Is it godly? Is it scriptural? The greatest curriculum is God’s Word. The best classroom is to be His church. For this instruction is designed to last forever.
