Title

I Don’t Want To Be A Goat

Scripture
And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
(Matthew 25:33)
Devotional
Goats and sheep are often representative of people, and Christians in particular. Sheep for the most part obediently follow their master, while goats buck against the shepherd’s authority. Sheep desire to graze on good pasture, while goats will swallow just about anything. Sheep are submissive, while goats are resistant to God given authority. Sheep are lead, while goats must be prodded. Sheep are givers, while goats are takers. Sheep are easily loved, while goats annoyingly aggravate. Sheep are under grace, while goats fall under the law. The kingdom of God is reserved for sheep, while everlasting fire is prepared for goats. Sheep love the Good Shepherd, while goats love the world and the things of it. I don’t want to be a goat. I want to be a sheep, secure in the hands of the gentle Shepherd.
