Devotional
It is said that the sign of a great leader is one who knows his limitations and abilities. Solomon was a model of such great leadership. When it was time to build the temple, Solomon’s father provided him with the necessary materials needed to build the temple, but Solomon recognized his youthfulness and his limitations. In fact, he brought in skilled men and gifted craftsmen who possessed greater construction skills than he did. He was not afraid to acquire more talented men than himself. Young Solomon’s wisdom and humility pervaded his desire to build a magnificent place of worship for the God of gods. Solomon was a purpose driven leader who put aside pride, ego, fame, and glory in order to accomplish the task before him. Moreover, he allowed his purpose to take precedence over his personal desires and aspirations. As a result, God exalted him above all the kings on the earth. Take inventory. Is your life driven by what you accomplish or by His purpose?
