Title

Perceiving In The Wrong Realm

Scripture
Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?
(Mark 8:18)
Devotional
Like the disciples, we are usually reasoning in the wrong realm. That is, we are more concerned about the physical man than the spiritual man. Christ would often give an illustration to teach a spiritual principle; and inevitably, the people would focus on the illustration. Because we so often see lustfully, and hear carnally, we forget spiritually. Christ is always more interested in the character of man than the comfort of man. He is more concerned about the eternal than the temporal. When we see, hear, and remember the spiritual application, we will remember that Christ also takes care of the physical. The Scriptures repeatedly say, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says.” When we learn to see and listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying we will not readily forget, nor misapply the message.
