Having The Right Interest

Scripture
He rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”
(Mark 8:33)
Devotional
Man’s good intentions for the most part are sinful. We are prone to respond with emotion over logic, and logic above spiritual wisdom. Thus, our ways are repeatedly far removed from being mindful of the things of God. Most of man’s “Do good” ways are humanistic, and self gratifying. They have little or nothing at all to do with the things of God. Man is usually so busy trying to be a somebody, that by his actions, he makes God a nobody. I’m sure that Peter felt pretty good about himself when he verbally came to the rescue of Jesus. Peter’s macho attitude may have been very impressive to the other disciples, but God wasn’t a bit impressed. We must continuously be aware of the presence of the Lord, or we too will become more mindful of the things of man, instead of the things of God.
