Title

There Is Freedom In The Absence Of Sin

Scripture
“Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
(John 8:10-11)
Devotional
How quickly we throw “condemnation” stones at the sins of others-until our sins are brought to light. Mankind is so quick to point a finger of accusation in order to justify itself. We mistakenly think that if we can make others look bad, we then will look good. This woman was an adulterer. She was caught in the very act. However, her accusers had equal if not greater sins in their lives. Whenever we in a self-admiring attitude condemn the sins of others, we need to hear Jesus say, “He who is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone….” There are at least two simple lessons to be learned in this text. Be slow to judge, and there is deliverance and freedom in sinlessness. The key to the freedom of this adulterer is again found in the words of Jesus, “Go and sin no more.”
