Title

Abiding In The Vine

Scripture
These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
(John 15:11)
Devotional
The purpose of the word of God is to impart His joy into our lives. That is, that the fullness of Christ may dwell in us. Jesus used the illustration of a vine and its branches, He being the vine and we being the branches. The analogy is simple, if we remain secured to Him, there will be joy, if not, sorrow. There is great joy when we walk in obedience to Christ. It is here that He calls us friends. Whenever we choose to prune ourselves from Him, our joy will wither and die. Yet, He loves us enough to in-turn prune us from the stalk of the world and graft us into Himself, the Living Vine. If you desire true joy, abide in the Vine. If you wish to be a friend of God, abide in the Vine. If you call yourself His disciple, again, you must abide in the Vine.
