Title

Mail Call

Scripture
Now the Lord called to Moses, and spoke to him from the tabernacle of meeting, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel.”
(Leviticus 1:1-2)
Devotional
A preacher of the gospel is but heaven’s mailman. His job is to deliver God’s message to His people. Mail call takes place weekly throughout the world during the assembly of the believers. God has chosen to speak to His children in this manner ever since man’s departure from the garden.

Moses was Israel’s mailman. God spoke to Moses and Moses spoke to the people. God likewise speaks to His messengers today, and those messengers are to convey His message to the Church. Have you received any mail lately? We are to desire news from heaven like a soldier in battle desires news from home.

Can you imagine a loved one sending you a letter and you returning it unopened? Likewise, imagine your Heavenly Father sending you a letter of love and you sending it back marked, “Return to sender”. God’s mailman has some good news for you from heaven. We’ll see you at mail call this Sunday.
Text For The Day
Leviticus 1:1, 2: Now the Lord called to Moses, and spoke to him from the tabernacle of meeting, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel.”
Thought For The Day
“It was one of the Wesleys, I think, who said that the New Testament knows nothing of solitary religion. We are forbidden to neglect the assembling of ourselves together. Christianity is already institutional in the earliest of its documents.” C. S. Lewis, author (suggested reading) Mere Christianity.

Questions To Ponder
·         Does God still speak through His servants: are there still prophets and apostles? If not, when did they stop functioning?
·                  Since Christ is the Head of the Body, His Bride, the Church, should He not speak to her when she is assembled?
·         When you attend the gathering of the believers, do you attend with an ear that not only hears, but also hears with an ear that leans toward obedience?

Morning Study Guide
Defining:  God has raised up designated authorities for the purpose of communicating His will and way. These delegates will be easily known by their adherence to His Word, the Bible. They will deliver nothing contrary to it, but will make its meaning clear and applicable. Find such mailmen and listen intently.

Referencing: “For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake,” 2 Corinthians 4:5.

Applying: Find God’s designated authority and listen measuring what is said by the Word of God. Do this and you will never be led astray.
