Watch Out For The Catch

Scripture
And certain men came down… and taught the brethren, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
(Acts 15:1)
Devotional
Watch out for the catch. Whether in business, relationships, or religion be ware of the small print devised by man. The second letter of Peter says it this way, “But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you…” Numerous businesses, governments, and churches have been ruined by what I call “Old Baggage.” Old baggage is the customs and traditions of men. These customs and traditions are not necessarily bad; they are just not Biblical. The problem arises when we attempt to make our preferences, doctrine. We try to conform others and God to our likeness, instead of ourselves and others to the likeness of Christ. There are some good traditions. However, do not make your traditions the law of God. Moreover, when it comes to salvation in Christ, make sure that it is exactly that, salvation in Christ, and Christ alone.
