Title

The Barometer Of The Soul

Scripture
For our boasting is this: The testimony of our conscience that we conduct ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity…
(2 Corinthians 1:12)
Devotional
The spiritual barometer of the soul is the conscience. When it is clear and clean it indicates a good atmosphere. When it is violated it confirms the storm of sin. A good spiritual barometric pressure is the result of simplicity and godly sincerity. Sin is complex. It causes mental confusion, anguish of soul, and spiritual distraction. Sin in the life of the believer violates the conscience. The sincerity of it is temporal. Sin is degenerating. It deepens. Sin will take you further than you want to go, keep you longer than you wish to stay, and cost you more than you are willing to pay. The simplicity of the gospel and the godly sincerity to it produces a good testimony. The conscience is clear. Mental confusion is replaced with peace of mind. Anguish of soul is renewed with a pure heart, and spiritual distractions are overturned by the security of salvation.
