Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us. (2 Corinthians 5:20)
By definition, an ambassador is a diplomatic official of the highest rank appointed and accredited as representative in residence by one government or sovereign to another. That is who we are in Christ to the world. We are to be diplomatic officials; as such, our goal is to win the favor of the people for and to our sovereign. Therefore we must present ourselves in the highest regard and the noblest of attitudes. Heaven trusts us and the world is watching us. The latter knows that we are accredited with the testimony of Christ. This is an awesome responsibility. We must do our very best as representatives of the Creator of the universe. Our job is not to war with our enemies, but to win them. Diplomacy is to be our method and responsibility. Christ's ambassadors represent another kingdom. Though we live in a foreign land, our residence is in a place called heaven.
