Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 19:14)
Jesus does not recommend that our children come to Him, He commands it. I am convinced that children would accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord if given a clear opportunity to do so early enough in life. Yet most do not because they have been forbidden by the actions of those who ought to be leading them to Him. We make sure our children are physically healthy and socially skilled. We make sure that they can read and write and that they acquire a good education. All these things we rightfully should do. Nevertheless, there is nothing more important than to get them to Christ at the earliest of ages. The longer they are exposed to this sinful world the more difficult it will be for them to come to a saving knowledge of Christ. How foolish to wait until they are old enough to make there own decision without our prompting. Heaven and hell are too great of options to leave their choice to chance.
