Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do. (Deuteronomy 29:9)
A covenant relationship with the Creator of the universe is more than a partnership. It is a covenant made with blood, the blood of the very Son of God. Too often we want our relationship with God to be an equal partnership. We call some of the shots and He calls others. It just doesn’t work that way. He is the author and finisher of the covenant. All that we can do is agree to it.
Furthermore we are the recipients of the blessings of this covenant. Though it be one-sided with regard to agreement, it is likewise one-sided with regard to its blessings. We are to be covenant keepers. We are to live our lives in a covenant relationship with not only God, but with each other as well. We are people of the covenant. This is the gospel of Christ. This is the purpose of the Church: to keep and promote the covenant of God.
