He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury . . . some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations (Luke 21:1 5.)
The temple was a magnificent edifice, beautifully decorated. However, these decorations did not come from the widow’s mite. They came from the rich putting in their offerings. God blesses both; whether from poverty or wealth. All are called to give as God has prospered them.
You and I are no exception. Whether impoverished or blessed with wealth, we are to be givers. Each has a purpose. Each has a duty. The duty of the poor is to trust the Lord and work hard. The duty of the wealthy is to likewise work hard and give of their resources.
God does not prosper for the sake of prosperity. Prosperity is a gift of God. Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich.”(1) When God blesses with prosperity, that prosperity is to be a resource for blessing.
America has experienced the greatest prosperity the world has ever known. As America blesses others with her prosperity, America will continue to be blessed.
