Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. (Mark 13:28)
God would not have us ignorant about the times in which we live, nor would He have us unprepared for those times. All we need to do is stop, look and listen to see that "summer is near." We are to get our heads out of the proverbial sand and pay attention to what is going on around us. From our homes and families to our friends and businesses, we are to pay close attention to the signs of our times. It does not take rocket science to know that summer follows spring. Likewise, God intends for us to know what follows different seasons of our lives. Few marriages, for example, self-destruct overnight. I can guarantee that there were ignored signs of collapse. Let us therefore pay close attention to those telltale signs that reveal the otherwise hidden things of life. Stop, look and listen. The signs will be there.
