Why Do The Good Die Young?

Scripture
The righteous perishes, and no man takes it to heart; merciful men are taken away, while no one considers that the righteous is taken away from evil.
(Isaiah 57:1)
Devotional
Why do the good often die young? Why are mere children frequently deprived of a full long life? God knows. And a partial answer is given to us in our text. They are taken away from evil. The following verse tells their fate, "They shall enter into peace."[1] Death is seldom if ever easy for those left behind. It is the final enemy to be destroyed.[2] Nevertheless for those who pass from this life into eternal life in a place called heaven, it is far better. The apostle Paul told the Philippian church, "For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better."[3] Death will never be easy. We were not originally designed for it. It is the result of a sin cursed world. But Christ has overcome sin and death. When we place our faith and trust in Him, death no longer has dominion over us.
