We live in a spiritually ignorant society. The daily devotions and Bible reading that once were the norm in America have all but vanished from the routine of life. There was a time when the family Bible was the entertainment center of the home. Now it is the television. Could this be the reason that we have a generation that cannot answer the most basic of questions with regard to faith in Christ? In a recent survey, for example, a participant was asked, “What is the great commission?” To which he hesitantly replied, “Fifteen percent?” The humor of his answer was only surpassed by the sadness of his ignorance. We need to return to the basics. It is time to restore family devotions and prayer. It is time for fathers to take the spiritual lead in the family. It is time for the family to be in church together. It is time for all to know that Jesus Christ is the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.Daily Reading
