Title

It Is Wrong To Steal A Shopping Cart

Scripture
You shall not show partiality to a poor man in his dispute.
(Exodus 23:3)
Devotional
We seem to be living in a society that regards honest success gained through hard work as evil. We reward whiners and punish winners. We tax success and compensate failure. We are to be giving and compassionate. ?Nevertheless, we are to demonstrate equality in all of our dealings. A law that applies to a wealthy man is to also apply to a poor man. If it is wrong for a rich man to steal, cheat and lie it is just as wrong for a poor man to steal, cheat and lie. ?To be filled with pride in poverty is as evil as being filled with pride in prosperity. The world does not owe you and me a living. We are not entitled to a life of freeloading. We are not to show partiality nor are we to expect it. We are to be charitable. However, we are not entitled to charity. We are to give generously, but we are not to take selfishly.
