Who Can This Be?

Scripture
They feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
(Mark 4:41)
Devotional
This is an amazing story. The disciples and Jesus were in a small boat being tempest-tossed to the point that the disciples thought that they were about to die. Nevertheless, Jesus was soundly sleeping. Have you ever been in the midst of the storms of life and wondered if God were asleep? We, like the disciples, judge God to be apathetic. God is never uncaring, He is sure and faithful. Jesus slept because the disciples had the ability to overcome the storm. It was their faith that was weak, not the faithfulness of Christ. In their weakness, they called out to Him and He immediately calmed the storm. Who is this that can calm the worst of storms? His name is Jesus, Lord God Almighty. Therefore, walk in your faith, but if your faith fails, call on the Lord that can calm the seas. He will never be caught fearful nor by surprise.
