Title

The Fearful and Fainthearted

Scripture
What man is there who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest the heart of his brethren faint like his heart.
(Deuteronomy 20:8)
Devotional
It is not only unwise to enter a battle with the fearful and fainthearted, it is unwise to enter any endeavor with the fearful and fainthearted. The fainthearted man is a negative man. He has lost the battle in his heart before it even begins. His danger is not so much in his cowardice, but in his ability to bring others down to his level of fear. Therefore avoid the complainers and naysayers of life. Let them go home, and if they are unwilling to go, send them away. Better to loose one fearful fainthearted man than the whole army. Courage is not requisitioned in the battle; it is acquired before the battle begins. By sending the fearful and fainthearted away, you strengthen the troops. Furthermore, when the fearful and fainthearted hear of your victories, their hearts will be strengthened. Who knows that during the next conquest they may be among the brave of heart?
