Title

Christ is Our Righteousness

Scripture
He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others.
(Luke 14:9)
Devotional
It is better to refrain from worshipping than to worship in pride and arrogance. Any time we compare ourselves to others we are looking to justify ourselves. If we are to compare ourselves to anyone, that one is to be Christ. For He is the only standard that God will accept. Whenever we begin to be thankful that we are not like other men, we are attempting to exult ourselves by pulling others down. We may indeed be pulling them down; however, we are only pulling them down to our level. Remember this parable. The Pharisee was thankful that he was not like the tax collector. The tax collector realized that without the mercy of God he had no hope. Jesus said that the tax collector went away justified. No matter how righteous we perceive ourselves to be, we are not righteous enough aside from Christ. He is our righteousness.
