Title

When We Fail to Understand

Scripture
When Jesus knew… that His disciples complained… He said to them, “Does this offend you?”
(John 6:61)
Devotional
A lack of understanding, complaining and being offended seem to go hand in hand. The disciples did not understand Christ’s metaphoric teaching. However, instead of questioning the meaning, they questioned Christ. Instead of talking to Him about it, they complained and instead of being humbled they were offended. We, like the disciples of old do the same. When we do not understand we complain and when we complain we end up being offended. We may not always understand the things God is teaching us. Nevertheless, we surely can trust Him enough not to question the integrity of His character. When we find ourselves complaining we need to question ourselves first and foremost, especially if we find ourselves complaining about the things of God. If we are easily offended and constantly complaining in the little things of life, what will we do with the grand?
