Title

Win Favor By Seeking Counsel

Scripture
Then David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.
(1 Chronicles 13:1)
Devotional
David was chosen by God to be the leader of the nation. He was the king. As king he had ultimate authority. He did not need to answer to anyone. Nevertheless, in his wisdom, he sought wise counsel. Furthermore, in seeking the counsel of his captains and leaders he won their favor and loyalty. They knew that they were important to David and what they believed mattered to him. It is the wise leader who receives counsel from those who lead under his or her authority. David already knew what he was going to do; nevertheless he sought the counsel of those who would be following him. Do you see the godly genius? Every captain, every leader, every head of the tribes of Israel were with him, on the same page going in the same direction. Do you have goals and dreams? Seek the counsel of those who will be journeying with you and win their favor and loyalty.
