Title

Up With Nepotism

Scripture
And David’s sons were chief ministers at the king’s side.
(1 Chronicles 18:17)
Devotional
The best training for life ought to come from parents to children. Who could mentor more? Who more has the loved needed and the understanding required coaching and tutoring our children? David did not just appoint his sons to high positions haphazardly; he had them ministering at his side. It was not a matter of blind favor, but honest foresight and godly wisdom. Who would be more loyal and faithful than a loving obedient son? Who could have a greater understanding of the requirements and inclinations of the king more than the child of the king? The answer in a word, “Nobody!” Some will look at the rebellion of Absalom and accuse; I prefer to look at the obedience of Solomon and admire. Who is worth a greater investment than our sons and daughters? Who can give a greater reward of joy for their success? If you are considering expansion, consider the value of nepotism.
