Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.(Isaiah 60:1;)
Devotional
Two commandments are given in our text and two reasons to keep them. The first command is to “Arise.” The reason, “The light has come.” Just as the morning brings the light of day, the light of faith brings the will of God. The sun is shining; get up and do something. Get out of your comfort zone; stretch yourself and go for all that life has to offer. The second command is the fruit of the first, “Shine. The reason we are to shine is because “The glory of the Lord has risen upon you “ How do we shine? We shine by not hiding behind a facade of hypocrisy. We shine by purposefully being excited about life. We shine by having a goal and seeking our dreams. We shine by working hard and believing in what we do. We shine by sharing those dreams and goals with others. We shine because “The glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” Therefore “Arise.”Daily Reading
