Having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck.(1 Timothy 1:19)
Devotional
When we violate our consciences, we will inevitably violate our faith. The two go hand in hand. The conscience is the compass of our soul. It shows us the paths of our thoughts and the ways of our hearts. It is the source of doubt and confidence, neither of which is to be dishonored. If we continue to dishonor the conscience, sooner or later it will become dishonorable and hardened beyond remedy. Being that the conscience is the compass of the soul, faith then is the true north of that compass. The bearings of our lives are to be set by it. Now, the map of the soul is the Word of God. Therefore, let us set the compass of our souls, our consciences, on the truths of God’s Word, obeying it by faith. Let us not reject it, that we may not, like others, suffer shipwreck.Daily Reading
