We may, but God never trivializes sin. We lie and call it bending the truth. We cheat and call it good business. We lust and call it admiration. And we think that it is a trivial thing. One of the greatest slippery slopes to sin is to trivialize it through humor. The accuser of the brethren knows that if he can get us laughing at sin the next step will be to accept it in others and eventually we will embrace it as normal behavior. Follow the history of homosexuality, for example. It went from the closet to foolish jesting, to tolerance and now acceptance as normal behavior. By trivializing what God calls an abomination, we have yielded to that which God never saw as humorous, nor tolerated, nor ever accepted as normal behavior. Sin is not and never will ever be a trivial thing with the Creator. Sin cost Him His Son. He paid too high a price to make sin a trivial thing.Daily Reading
