Title

Get Rid of the Rebellion

Scripture
I will purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me.
(Ezekiel 20:38)
Devotional
Rebels, unfortunately, appear to be the heroes of post-Christian society, especially among the youth. The rebellious nature of mankind will attempt to exert itself through the realm of social independence. It is quite natural for youth to seek a certain level of independence from their parents. The scriptures are clear, for example, “A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Nevertheless, God never intended us to be independent of each other nor Him. To do so is rebellion. And our text is clear, God will purge the rebels. It may be popular with the foolish to be a rebel, but it is not at all popular with God. Nor should it be popular with you and me. Therefore, let us drive out the rebellion within ourselves and likewise drive the rebellion out of our youths, for if we fail to do so, God will purge both them and us.
