Title

Our Honorable Duty

Scripture
Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
(1 Peter 2:17)
Devotional
Here we find the duty of the believer with regard to society. “Honor all people.” It is not a coincidence that this is the first duty. It is given first, just in case we miss any of the other requirements. We must never forget that every man, woman and child conceived in the womb is to be honored as those who have been created in the image of their Creator. Secondly, we must love one another and we must choose to do so on purpose. We are family and God demands His children to love each other. In the midst of our sacred trusts is the command to fear God. In the midst of all that we do, we are to fear Him. Just as an obedient child fears the chastisement of a loving parent, we are to fear the hand of our heavenly Father. Lastly, we are to honor civic authority, those that govern and enforce the laws of the land. If we do these, we will do well.
