Title

A Leader Must Be A Watcher

Scripture
A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters all evil with his eyes.
(Proverbs 20:9)
Devotional
Leadership demands diligent observation of his or her surroundings. It must be able to read faces, gestures and moods. If not, evil can and will attack and destroy that leadership. A leader who does not read the signs of the times will be a short-lived leader. A leader must watch every realm of responsibility, never ignoring frowns, sneers or looks of displeasure. People speak more loudly with gestures than they do with words. Body language speaks volumes. A leader must be able to determine the difference between attention grabbers and sincere looks of need and desire. Instead of asking the obvious, "What's wrong?" A better question would be, "What can I do for you? How can I help?" Do not be afraid to dig. Often times asking once is not enough. If you are a leader or desire leadership, you must become a watcher. You must sit on the throne of judgment and scatter all evil with your eyes.

Pastor, I believe the devotional verse is supposed to be Prov 20:8, not 9.
